Community Mapping is an excellent technique for clarifying the needs and wants of community, galvanizing social and ecological action, and resisting status-quo decisions about places. In other words, it can be the perfect tool for supporting nature-based solutions.
In this video, we showcase one of the planet’s most knowledgable and passionate community mapping professionals: Ken Josephson. Ken served as cartographer for the University of Victoria’s Geography department for over 40 years, and who has aided and collaborated with countless communities around the world. A paean to a tremendous man, this film, shot by award-winning cinematographer Chen Wang, captures the importance of “moving at the speed of trust” to support positive action in community. Shot on location at Maltby Lake, Highlands, and other Victoria, BC, locations.
