Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and more costly as a result of climate change. Reducing the threats these disasters pose to lives, properties, and the economy is a top priority for many communities. The National Mitigation Investment Strategy identifies nature- based solutions as a cost-effective approach to keep natural hazards from becoming costly disasters.
